We moved to the Isle of Lewis in February 2005. We moved to this beautiful
island to escape all the hubbub of everyday city life and we immediately
decided that we wanted to start our own business venture.
As we arrived at our new home there was a rainbow forming a perfect crescent
right over the house – we are still searching for the pot of gold!! Little did
we know at the time that the rainbow would be the inspiration for our business
name!
Once we were settled we wanted to add our little personal touches to the house.
We both love to have colourful flowers in the house but it always seemed a shame
when they died and had to be thrown away after a few days. We like natural
materials and liked the idea of having flowers in the house that would never die
and still smell gorgeous. Scented wooden roses – perfect! That was the simple
inspiration for the business.
At first we were having trouble thinking of a name for the business, we had a
few ideas but nothing was just quite right! That good old rainbow kept on coming
back and settling just above our house, we looked out for it most days. One day
while we were looking at the rainbow we had our first delivery of the roses we
were going to make our baskets and bouquets with, as soon as we opened the boxes
and saw all the gorgeous colours we knew immediately what our name was going to
be. So with the rainbow outside still shining over us and the wonderful array of
colours spread across our living room floor Rainbow Roses began!
